Why we built MinusPlus

To bring the depth and rigour of modern Chinese medicine into everyday Australian healthcare — so that fewer people spend years waiting to be properly heard.

Bloods and scans came back all normal, but I know my own body, and something isn't right.

The dose keeps going up and the problem hasn't gone anywhere."

I have to get worse before anyone will do something. That can't be the only option.

Most people find us late.

By the time they book, they've usually been unwell for years. They've had the scans and the blood tests. They've been told their results are normal, or that this is just their age, or that there isn't much more to try. Many have stopped expecting anyone to look at the whole picture.

In more than a decade of practice in Australia, our founder watched this happen again and again — and kept returning to the same question. Not why didn't anything work sooner, but why did it take so long for anyone to offer another way of looking?

Chinese medicine has been practised for two thousand years, studied in modern hospitals for the last seventy, and registered as a health profession in Australia since 2012. It sits alongside conventional care in hospitals across China every day. And still, most Australians only think of it once everything else has been exhausted.

We think that order is backwards.  MinusPlus exists to change it. We're building the clinic we wished existed — one that brings the rigour of contemporary Chinese medical practice together with a working knowledge of Western medicine, and the ability to explain both clearly, in plain English. The kind of clinic your GP is comfortable referring to, and where you can ask anything.

Because the goal was never to be the last door you try. It's to be one of the first — early enough to matter.

How we make it happen

Rigorous practice. Generous education.

In our clinics

Intergrate Chinese medicine care into your medical care, never instead of it.

Keep your GP. Keep your specialist. Keep your fertility clinic. We're here to add to your care. Bring your bloods, your ultrasounds, your IVF protocol, your specialist letters, our treatment plan is designed to work with your current one, so nothing gets set aside just because it came from the other side of the fence. Your history is one story, not two.
In our clinics

Traditional Chinese medicine, mordern way.

Not the version frozen at graduation, and not a softened translation of it. Our clinical practice is built on evidenced-based and updated practice in China, reviewed continuously. In addition, We explain it in a language you already speak.
In our clinics

Heath comes first, not conditions.

Western medicine is organised around named conditions, and it generally needs one before it can act. It might mean the years before the name arrives can go largely unattended. Chinese medicine is organised differently. It describes how your body is functioning as a whole system — what's in excess, what's running down, what isn't moving — and it can describe that whether or not anything has a name yet. Getting your health functioning well is the goal in its own right — not a by-product of managing a condition.
Beyond the room

The goal is for everyone — patients and doctors alike — to know it was there to choose.

Most Australian and GPs have never been given a reason to consider Chinese medicine — largely because our profession has been poor at giving them one. We're working on that from our side: corresponding with your GP or specialist when it supports your care, sharing the clinical reasoning behind what we're doing, and putting the published evidence in front of the people making informed decisions.
